Crossing Tanzania by Train; Dar es salaam to Mbeya
The Idea to connect central and southern Africa states with the eastern coast through a rail link started as for bock as 1947 both Tanganyika (now Tanzania) and northern Rhodesia (now Zambia) had for a long time wished to agriculturally develop their vast areas in the South West (of Tanganyika) and North East (of Northern Rhodesia), respectively.
The scenery out the window of the train is stunning, it travels through the Selous Game Reserve and the ranges of the southern/central highlands, giving you ample opportunities to try and spot game out the window. Other times it crosses gorges and climbs mountains, with views of rainforests and waterfalls.
